The Purple Audio Action is a 500 Series FET compressor module modeled after the Purple Audio MC77 rackmount compressor. The total gain (with no attenuation) is 45dB, just like the MC77; although the Action is not an MC77 500 series module, It is a unique compressor with broader attack and release times than the MC77 - which can cause distortion. The ratios are the same as the MC77, and the threshold moves up as the ratio goes up, just like the MC77.
The Action compressor shines on drums - and most sources with fast transients. A 500 series powered rack like the Purple Audio Sweet Ten rack is required. Stereo linking is possible with two Action compressor modules.
